Hummer

Brielle is starting to talk more and more every day, but one word that she struggles with is Hyrum. She started by calling him "baby", then "Harm" which progressed to "Harem", and now she just calls him "Hummer". It's so cute that we have a hard time not using the nickname as well! We want to call him Hyrum so Brielle can learn the proper enunciation, but more and more often we find ourselves talking to Hummer!

When your toddler can open the fridge...

Brielle recently discovered that she could open the fridge on her own, and now several times a day she'll open the fridge door, rummage around for a few minutes, and then bring to us whatever it is she'd like to eat.

At least four times a day she brings us the ingredients for chocolate milk.

We're Moving!

Russell got a job in Seattle and we're moving on January 1st. We'll be living in Lynnwood, WA, which is about 15 miles from Seattle, in an apartment complex called Heritage Ridge.

Those are some pictures of our complex (and how they found a sunny day to take the picture on I will never know!)
Across the street from our apartments is a lake (Martha Lake) with a few playgrounds for the kids. You can see our apartment buildings in the background.

This is our complex.

This is our pool.

Here are some pictures of the inside of our place.
We have a gas fireplace.
Our place has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a walk-in-closet in the master bedroom, a laundry room with a nice new washer and dryer (as opposed to just having them in a closet like some of the places we looked at, we have an actual room, so we can hang things up should we feel inclined!)

It will be fun to live in Lynnwood, there are a million things to do, oodles of shops, museums, zoos, aquariums, places to hike, ferries to islands we can take, whale watching, sea kayaking (perhaps we'll wait til Hyrum can sit up before we do that one) and a zillion more things. But after our four days there finding an apartment, we flew home to Montana, and when we walked in our tiny airport with its two gates and watched as all twenty people in the airport exchanged greetings with people they knew and neighbors they bumped into there, I felt like all the fun and exciting things in Washington can't quite compare with the joy and comfort of living somewhere like Bozeman. Perhaps in the future we'll live in a small place again. I hope so.

It's like they said in Run Away Bride: "May the good Lord make you smart enough to live in a small town."

Gift of the Magi.....sort of...

Except I didn't sell my hair....I donated it to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that makes wigs for children with medical conditions that cause hair loss. Locks of Love
(and Russ doesn't even own a pocket watch......so I guess it's like Gift of the Magi in no way!)

You have to have at least 10 inches cut off to donate, so my hair is nice and short now! I have really really thick hair, and they had to put it into four different ponytails to hack it off.....looked like four people had gotten scalped!

It will definitely take some getting used to!

Hyrum's Blessing

Hyrum was blessed last Sunday and he was a perfect little angel. While he was being blessed he just smiled and laughed at everyone (as opposed to screaming, like his sister had done!)

Unfortunately we only have a few pictures from that day and none of them really turned out.....but here they are! Josh and Darcy and their girls were there too, but they had to leave right after so they aren't in the pictures (their girls had already been at church for 5 hours and needed to go home, perhaps we can photo shop them in later!)

A funny little coincidence: Matt, Josh and Russell all wore the same tie.....it wasn't planned or anything, just great minds thinking alike!

Go on, admire me!

Hyrum's nickname is "Happy" because he is such a happy kid! He's always smiling and gurgling and cooing at us, so so cute! We sure love our little boy!

Here's Hyrum enjoying all the attention from his cousins Emma and Katie.

At the beach...

Trains and Ponies

In California we went to Irvine Park, and the kids got to go on a train around the park. Brielle has been very into trains lately and so she thought this was great!

But the highlight of the trip was without a doubt riding on the ponies! Brielle was so excited to see them and pat them, and once it was her turn to ride one, and she was placed on her pony's back, her face just lit up with a huge grin that she wore the whole time.

When she had to get off she kept following us around asking for "more, more?" while doing the sign language for 'more' as well to emphasize how much she wanted to go again!

Cousins!!

For Thanksgiving we flew to California to be with the Streadbeck side of our family and Brielle had the best time ever! She had so many cousins to play with, she loved it!

Jonah, Brielle, and Elizabeth in the tub.

All the cousins watching a movie, and by the looks on their faces it's a very intense part of Winnie the Pooh!!

Cute Streadbeck Cousins! Brielle, Jonah, Katie, Emma, Hannah, and Elizabeth.

This is what the babies do....

One day I was putting Hyrum to sleep in a different room and Brielle was being unusually quiet (always a foreboding omen). When I came out I found her like this, she had dragged out the baby bathtub from the den and had pulled a blanket over her to go to sleep like the baby. Her newest thing is doing whatever it is that Hyrum is doing, and I must say it's awfully cute. The only difference in the scenarios here is that while I put Hyrum down with a pacifier, Brielle found a sucker in my purse and was using that (after unwrapping 7 other suckers and sucking on each one just long enough to stick it to the couch).

Watching a movie like the baby.

What else can I stand on???

Brielle loves to be up where the action is, to accomplish this she likes to use her little blue chairs. They're easy to drag over to whatever she needs to observe and/or touch/grab/play with/help with. However, it isn't always convenient having a one year old playing in the sink or on the counter tops so we've started putting her chairs away where she can't get to them. No problem, now Brielle will just drag over whatever she can find, cardboard boxes, laundry hampers, her booster seat, and sometimes if everything else has been hidden away she'll just start stacking up her books! What a smart (and mischievous) little girl!

In the above picture she is trying to do the dishes and in the bottom picture she is "helping" me cook dinner.

Halloween

For Halloween we went to our ward's Trunk-or-Treat at the Church. Brielle was an elephant and Hyrum was a monkey.

A good big sister trying to make the crying stop!

Brielle and Russell outside the church after the Trunk-or-Treat. We couldn't get Brielle to look at us and smile, she was too busy inspecting what was in her bucket!

When we got home, instead of following us to the house, Brielle went across the parking lot on her own and sat on the curb to admire her candy. No matter how we called to her, bribing and cajoling, she still refused to come. She had a bucket full of candy and a spot to sit, no way was she going to go home and let her parents take it all away and hand it out in smaller and less frequent portions than she would like!!

Getting ready to spend the night on the curb with her candy!

Our cute little monkey, he slept the whole time!
