Hyrum

Hyrum is the smartest baby, every day I marvel as he figures out inventive solutions to problems or obstacles. When faced with something new, his little face becomes studious as he observes, and then he eagerly scoots forward or reaches out to try whatever it is that has caught his interest. Hyrum also has a sense of humor, and when something strikes him as funny he will start laughing so hard that he’ll be left gasping for air in between more peals of laughter. Already he can communicate so much to us, with sounds, actions, and, more than anything, his eyes. We sure love our fun-loving and inquisitive little boy!

April Fool's Day!!!

April Fool's Day is a big deal in our house. It's my mom's favorite holiday and so growing up we'd always do something fun for it (mostly it was our mom doing great and terrible things to her poor unsuspecting children). So in the grand tradition of Mom's playing tricks on their families, here's what I did:

First Russell came home to find his children dressed a little.....differently than usual:

Hyrum made the cutest little girl! Russ was shocked! He almost didn't notice Brielle's outfit (size 2T clothes I bought for Hyrum before he was born because they were on sale) but when he saw Hyrum I heard screams of "What have you done to my BOY?!?"

Super cute whatever gender they're dressed as!

Then for dinner we had CUPCAKES!!!
(Russ totally fell for this one because I HAVE served cookies for dinner before, just because that's what I felt like having, so it wasn't so out of the ordinary!)

But they weren't really cupcakes, it was MEATLOAF, with colored mashed potatoes on top! Hee hee hee. And they were delicious! Seriously. Russell loved them, gobbled up more than half, and asked if I could always make them this way in the future. =0)

The glasses LOOKED like they were filled with blue Kool-Aid from the pitcher on the table, but they were really filled with jello, that I had chilled in them several hours before. Again they fell for this, Russ thought the kool-aid was blue to hide the Methylene blue that makes some of your bodily fluids come out that color. But I didn't put that in......this year.

Brielle's trying to drink it!

And once she discovered it was jello she was even happier!

And for dessert, the ever popular Dirt with Worms! Chocolate pudding, crushed-up Oreos, and gummi worms.

All in all a great day. Can't wait for next year!!

Feeding Time at our house....

With two kids eating out of high chairs, you can just imagine the mess in our kitchen after meals...

I feel like I should hose down the floor once they're through. =0)

Hyrum's showing his pleasure at eating at the same time as his sister (they used to take turns eating, and on this day I just pulled the booster chair over to the kitchen and fed them at the same time)
Now they eat side by side. Sometimes they hold hands, sometimes they eat the same things....

...and sometimes Brielle gives Hyrum her food.

Which he's always willing to try!
