On Brielle's birthday (back in January) we flew to California to play with our Streadbeck side of the family.
Grandma Streadbeck had made a birthday cake for Brielle and she got to open presents. We didn't have any cousins come because right before leaving for the airport Clara had thrown up all over our hallway, and again on the plane. We didn't want other people to get sick.
After present opening, the kids ran for the hot tub! They had been looking forward to swimming just as much as they were looking forward to Disneyland I think!
The day after we arrived in California, Russell and I took Sammy and we went to the Getty Art Museum, while Grandma and Aunt Michelle watched our other three kids. It was so much fun going off and quietly exploring a museum, and being able to read any of the signs I wanted to!
The next day the kids got to go see Paddington Bear in the theater, and go to Chuck E Cheese. Hyrum LOVES Chuck E Cheese, and was very sad to leave.
Our first theme park was Legoland. I had read online that if you brought little lego figures you could trade them with all of the employees at Legoland. So we brought several ordinary mini figures, and came home with some pretty fun ones!
Posing with Lego creations
All legos!
It rained on us a little at Legoland, which didn't bother us too much, and actually meant we could go on several rides without having to wait in line. On one little rollercoaster we just kept going again and again because people would come to get on, but never enough that we had to give up our seats. This set a very bad precedent, because when we went to Disneyland a day later, Clara was always so frustrated that we couldn't just stay on the ride and go again!!
Our first day of Disneyland we only went for half a day, then we took the kids home. Caitlin's sister, Erin, came to babysit all of the kids staying at Grandma's house, and the adults went back to Disneyland to eat dinner at Club 33, a very exclusive and elite restaurant that only members of the club and their guests may dine at. Our dinner came in multiple courses, and was very good. I refrained from quoting Downton Abbey on several occasions!
Sammy's first Disney trip! (He was with us at Disney World last time, but in utero, so it probably doesn't count.) Also, this was our first time doing Disney with the Streadbeck side of the family. Slightly ironic since they live only 12 miles from Disneyland!!
We did 2 days at Disneyland, and one day at California Adventures.
The new cars ride, Radiator Springs Racers, was our favorite California Adventures ride.
And then we spent one whole day swimming. Grandma and Grandpa heated the entire swimming pool for us, and the kids were in heaven!! Sammy loves the water, just like all of his siblings.
We all hated leaving California, and as soon as our plane landed back in Seattle, Clara was already asking if we could go back to Grandma's house the next day.
