WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!

More details coming soon.

Thank you Disney, I'll take it from here...

My children love Disney movies, as I'm sure most children do. Brielle, however, doesn't just love Disney, she LIVES Disney. She's been quoting her favorite movies for ages, but recently she has taken to acting out scenes. When I saw her twirling Hyrum around the living room and singing "I know you, I walked with you once UPON a dreeeeeeeeam" I thought it was downright adorable. And the next day when I found her in my bathroom cleaning the bathtub with a shower wand and singing "Sing sweet nightingale...." I was ready to hunt up Mr. Disney's closest relative and kiss him on the mouth. What a gold mine! I mean honestly how many clips of princesses cleaning do you think it would take to ingrain that habit in a child?! Perhaps if I just spliced them together, first Snow White doing dishes, then Cinderella on the floors.......

But then this week my dreams of homeschooling via Disney movies came crashing down around me. As we left the library, Brielle ran ahead, and before I could catch up (I was toting Hyrum and 80 lbs. of books) she stuck her Monster book out in front of her with one hand and used the other to cover her eyes, then charged straight across the parking lot, eyes covered, without having looked in either direction beforehand. As I ran, I shouted at her to stop, and she called back merrily "yup, this book's a lucky one!"

We will no longer be watching Mulan

family home evening at the beach

We went to the Mukilteo Light House Park with friends for Family Home Evening last week.

It has a pretty unique playground, AND a beach, that's all a kid could ask for!

Brielle and her friend Sophie, collecting wood to build a raft...or perhaps to put a second story on their swiss-family-style beach chateau.

Hyrum is making battle sounds with his sword/stick

Smiling into the sunset

Who says we don't eat healthy stuff at our house???

See look at that, when left to his own desires, the boy grabs a 5lb. bag of carrots to munch on. That's just the way I've raised them, always weighing caloric costs against nutrient intake........oops, hang on a minute, I spilled brownie crumbs in the keyboard........
