For Labor Day weekend, we rented a Yurt on Grayland beach. Grayland beach is about 3 hours south of us, close to the Oregon border. We chose that place because it is on the REAL ocean, not just the Puget Sound which is what we have near us.
This is a yurt.
Here is the inside of our yurt. It had a bunkbed, and then a futon couch that folded down into a bed. It had electric lights, and one outlet, and that was it. Outside was a firepit and a picnic table. I'm not a huge fan of tent camping, so I love it when we find things like this..
The first day was very warm and sunny, and we played in the ocean for hours and hours before heading to our yurt to cook dinner. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures on that first day. These are from the morning of the second day. Early in the morning it was too cool for swimming, so we walked along the beach.
The sand there was gray. That might be why they call it Grayland Beach. Just a thought.
It warmed up a little later.
Hyrum is warming up after playing in the water and mud.
Clara LOVED crawling along the tire tracks on the beach. Silly baby.
This spot seemed very "Avonlea-esque", with the sandy trail winding through the grass to the ocean, so I had to snap a picture.
