When my parents came to visit us in August, they brought us a new dog. I had found him on the Montana Craigslist, and my Mom was kind enough to go see him, and then later go buy him for me.
I've always wanted a Golden Retriever, they are such happy, sunny dogs!
Usually we send animals home with my parents so this was a nice change. In August of 2009 we sent them home with a Lion-head Rabbit, Serengeti. In August of 2010 Clara was born, and a few days before that I took my Mom to some dog shows, and to visit a Sheltie breeder. From that trip she took home a Shetland Sheepdog, Liesl. In August of 2011 we sent them home with two box turtles (that my Dad had found on our craigslist), Archimedes and Bernoulli. And this year, August of 2012 we sent them home with another box turtle, and a baby bunny for my niece, Cassie.
So it's about time they brought me an animal!! ; )
The dog's name was Misha, and we tried to call him that for a few weeks. But Russell and the children kept referring to him as a "she" because the name sounded too feminine to them. One child asked "Misha sounds just like Aunt Michelle, right?" So we decided to change his name.
From the very beginning, Clara called our dog "Big."
Since that was her name for him, and we thought it was pretty cute whenever she called him that, we decided to name him because of his size. We named him Nephi, because he is "large in stature, yea verily like unto Shaquille O'Neal."
Nephi LOVES water, all bodies of water, the ocean, rivers, lakes, ponds, puddles. Even bath tubs. He's been such a sweet dog, and we are so happy that we added him to our family.

Did you make up those turtle names? Cuz in Montana it sure seems like they're just referred to as "the turtles." Just thought you should know.
