Aaaaargh! or A Lesson in Gratitude

The night before Brielle's preschool class I remembered that she needed a pirate costume. She was very worried about not having one, so I promised her I'd put something together while she slept. I scrambled and worked with what I had on hand, and I thought I had done a pretty good job too.

The next morning Brielle leaped from her bed and ran into the living room where her costume was laying out waiting for her. After quickly assessing all the components, she turns to me with a look of dismay and says: "Really? No sword?!!!"

I know deep down she meant to say "Thank you, Mom." I'm just sure of it. =0)

Here we go again......

I returned home from a Visiting Teaching visit to find my children sweetly sleeping in their beds. Next to Brielle's bed however was a large pile of dark hair.........and a Barbie doll. I was HOPING as I bent to touch the hair that it would be from the Barbie, but alas, the doll made it through the night unscathed. All of the hair had come from Brielle. She had thrown the pair of scissors under her bed, thus removing all evidence. (because the big pile of hair wouldn't have tipped us off!)

Brielle had cut herself an awesome mullet. "Business in the front, party in the back!" So again we went to the Beauty Salon to have her hair remedied by a professional. Now she's sporting an Audrey Hepburn look (from Roman Holiday)

I just hope she has hair when Kindergarten starts in a year. Is that too much to ask?

Thoughts from a Pregnant Lady

Some of my thoughts and feelings over the last month:

"The next person to ask me if I'm due any day is going to get drop-kicked off a balcony. I have THREE MONTHS LEFT!!!!"

"Today at my OB appointment the nurse asked me if I was experiencing any swelling. Are you kidding me? Are you looking at the same body I'm looking at?! OF COURSE THERE IS SWELLING!!! The whole dang thing!!"

"I'm at the point where I'm honestly starting to worry about who will cut my toe nails for me the last two months of pregnancy. So......hard.....to........reach.......!"

Kangaroo Farm

It was my turn to teach Brielle's preschool group for the month of May. For our field trip I decided to try out the Kangaroo Farm in Arlington. The kids LOVED it!!

This is a red kangaroo. They had kangaroos, wallaroos, and wallabies.

A little wallaby.
This wallaby has a baby in her pouch.

The kids got to feed the kangaroos a poppy seed bread. All of the animals were extremely tame and friendly.

Then they each had a turn rocking a baby wallaby. The farm pulls the babies from the pouch at about 7 months, and starts to bottle feed them in order to keep them tame.

The farm also had llamas....

Ostriches and Emus.....

Silcata Tortoises....

And several peacocks. There were also lemurs, donkeys, miniature horses, and parrots.

We'll definitely need to go there again someday!
